Baseball Recap: Lake Forest Gets the Win

Lake Forest proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by seven) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Mundelein Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Scouts have posted since April 29th.

Nate Brezak tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Lake Forest's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Bink Hartline, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave Hartline a new career-high. Another was Luke Pasquesi, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Lake Forest's record now sits at 14-16. As for Mundelein, they moved to 21-7-2 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Lake Forest will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
