Basketball Recap: Akron Rams vs. Perkins County Plainsmen

The Akron Rams won the last time they faced the Perkins County Plainsmen, and things went their way on Thursday too. Akron came out on top against the Plainsmen by a score of 47-38.

Akron found their leader in underclassman Taylor Benish, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kinsey Grauer, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.

Several Plainsmen players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Libby Cole, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Madison Potts was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.

Akron is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Perkins County, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-9.

Akron won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Rams at 4:00 p.m. on February 2nd. One thing working in Merino's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches. As for Perkins County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Bayard is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
