Softball Game Preview: Gladstone Gladiators vs. Crook County Cowboys

For the second straight game, Gladstone will face off against Crook County. The Gladiators will venture away from home to face off against the Cowboys on Monday. Gladstone is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Gladstone proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Crook County, sneaking past 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Gladiators have posted since April 4th.

Ashlynne Franssen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Caroline Ashby was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Maycee Terry was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Gladstone pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Crook County, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.
