Basketball Recap: Lamar Comes Up Short

Lamar has relied on a stalwart defense averaging 27.36 points allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They were beaten by the Alamosa Mean Moose 56-12. The defeat continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Mean Moose: they've now lost five in a row.

Chloe Weber was Lamar's leading scorer, having posted four points. Weber also led the team in rebounds with four.

Morgan Ortega was her usual excellent self, putting up 14 points and six assists for Alamosa. Audrina Knorr was another key player, scoring nine points.

Lamar's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-3. As for Alamosa, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lamar will welcome The Vanguard School at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lamar's defense has only allowed 27.4 points per game this season, so The Vanguard School's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Alamosa, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Monte Vista at 5:30 p.m.
