Softball Recap: Patrick County Gets the Win

Patrick County came out on top against Radford on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Cougars took their contest against the Bobcats 8-3. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Bobcats: they've now won seven in a row.

Jenna Woods made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Woods was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Journey Moore was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylor Lawless, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Patrick County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matchups.

Patrick County's record is now 15-3. As for Radford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
