Basketball Game Preview: St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs vs. St. Bernard's Crusaders

St. Vincent de Paul is 0-3 against St. Bernard since December of 2017 but things could change on Saturday. The St. Vincent de Paul Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the St. Bernard's Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

St. Vincent de Paul is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 68-51 win over Point Arena. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, St. Bernard's beat Mendocino 53-42 on Wednesday. Given the Crusaders' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th in California, while the Cardinals are ranked 762nd in California), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Vincent de Paul pushed their record up to 19-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points over those games. As for St. Bernard's, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season.

St. Vincent de Paul came up short against St. Bernard's in their previous matchup back in January, falling 50-43. Can St. Vincent de Paul avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
