First Flight is 8-2 against Currituck County since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The First Flight Nighthawks will head out to square off against the Currituck County Knights at 6:00 p.m. First Flight is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.2 points per game this season.
First Flight is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Pasquotank County: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that First Flight blew Pasquotank County out of the water with a 71-27 final score. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-17.

Maddy Beatson and Sara Basnight were among the main playmakers for First Flight as the former went 11 for 23 on her way to 26 points and eight steals and the latter went 9 of 13 en route to 18 points and six boards. Beatson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played dating back to last season. Abby Miles also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
First Flight smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Currituck County didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Holmes on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 39-34 victory. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Aces are ranked 325th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Currituck County found their leader in sophomore Arianna White, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which White has scored at least a third of Currituck County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Banks, who posted seven points.
Currituck County's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for First Flight, their record is now 9-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: First Flight has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 39.4 boards per game. However, it's not like Currituck County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.7 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
First Flight was able to grind out a solid victory over Currituck County in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, winning 48-41. Does First Flight have another victory up their sleeve, or will Currituck County turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
