Baseball Recap: Denver Academy Takes a Loss

Denver Academy had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-5 to make it five. They lost 11-0 to the Front Range Christian Falcons. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.

As for Front Range Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-5. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Front Range Christian's part, Max Morton and Jake Dreiling made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Morton tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Dreiling tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Morton is becoming a predictor of Front Range Christian's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). At the plate, Morton went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Dreiling got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those two runs gave Morton a new career-high.

In other batting news, Landon Deza was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Nate McInturff was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Denver Academy will challenge Weldon Valley at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Front Range Christian, they will take on Estes Park at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
