Baseball Recap: Marion Takes a Loss

Marion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Fort Chiswell Pioneers, falling 17-1. The Scarlet Hurricanes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pioneers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Marion saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sean Stuart, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Owen Parnell also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Fort Chiswell, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marion will challenge Rural Retreat at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fort Chiswell, they will square off against Galax at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
