Baseball Game Preview: St. Rita Mustangs vs. Loyola Academy Ramblers

St. Rita has gone 9-1 against Loyola Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Mustangs will welcome the Ramblers at 4:45 p.m.

St. Rita couldn't beat DePaul College Prep on Saturday even though they stacked five runs on them in the sixth inning. The Mustangs fell 14-9 to the Rams.

Jaden Rivera and Colin Quinn stepped up to the plate in a big way. Rivera got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI, while Quinn went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. St. Rita is 2-1 when Quinn posts three or more hits, but 9-15 otherwise. Peyton Panozzo was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Loyola Academy had just enough and edged out Saint Ignatius College Prep 3-2 on Saturday. The victory continues a trend for the Ramblers in their matchups with the Wolfpack: they've now won five in a row.

St. Rita's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-16. As for Loyola Academy, their win bumped their record up to an identical 11-16.

Everything went St. Rita's way against Loyola Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as St. Rita made off with a 10-0 victory. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Ramblers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
