Preview: Logan/Palco vs. Natoma Tigers
Logan/Palco has been on the road for five straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Natoma Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Logan/Palco struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (Northern Valley had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Logan/Palco fell 54-43 to Northern Valley. Logan/Palco has not had much luck with Northern Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Logan/Palco saw an underclassman step up: Lylah Voss dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was Voss' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mara Kats, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Natoma took a serious blow against Thunder Ridge on Tuesday, falling 49-13. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Natoma has scored all season.
Natoma's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lillian Carter, who scored six points along with 12 rebounds, and Caylie Lyle who scored five points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for her.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Natoma struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Logan/Palco's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-4. As for Natoma, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's match: Logan/Palco have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 32.2% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Natoma, though, as they've only made 23% of their threes per game this season. Given Logan/Palco's sizeable advantage in that area, Natoma will need to find a way to close that gap.
Logan/Palco didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Natoma in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 39-34 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Natoma's Candyce Engling, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Now that she won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Logan/Palco to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
