Softball Game Preview: Dr. Phillips Panthers vs. Windermere Wolverines

Dr. Phillips is 2-7 against Windermere since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. Dr. Phillips knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Windermere likes a good challenge.

Dr. Phillips will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating West Orange, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Panthers blew past the Warriors 15-4 on Wednesday. Considering the Panthers have won 12 games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Briana Lohr was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Rome, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Dr. Phillips always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Orange only posted an OBP of .400.

Windermere played against University on Wednesday and won via forfeit.

Windermere is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Dr. Phillips, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Dr. Phillips might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Windermere in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
