Baseball Recap: Ridgeview Comes Up Short

Fieldcrest hit Ridgeview with a four-run seventh inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs fell just short of the Knights by a score of 7-6. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Knights from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Ben Grice was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Wyatt Cavinder was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Aiden Neuhaus also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Ridgeview has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Fieldcrest, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Ridgeview is set to face off against their familiar foe Lexington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Fieldcrest will square off against rival Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
