Basketball Recap: Wakefield School Comes Up Short

Wakefield School and Fairfax Christian squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Wakefield School had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Fairfax Christian Cardinals 102-55. The Fighting Owls were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 59-23.

Fairfax Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dominic Mason out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. Those 20 points gave Mason a new career-high. Jonathan Jennings was another key player, going 5-for-7 on his way to 11 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists.

Wakefield School's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Fairfax Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 22-12.

Wakefield School does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fairfax Christian, they will face off against Roanoke Catholic on Friday. Fairfax Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.3 points per game this season.
