Softball Game Preview: Martin County Gators vs. Perquimans Pirates

The Martin County Gators will challenge the Perquimans Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Martin County sitting on four straight wins and Perquimans on five.

Martin County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Tarboro get on the board and left with a 23-0 victory last Thursday. Considering the Gators have won 16 games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Martin County got a massive performance out of Morgan Wolff, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Riley Cowan was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Martin County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .944. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Perquimans hadn't beaten Bear Grass Charter on the road since April 8, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. The Pirates came out on top against the Bears by a score of 7-4.

Perquimans' win bumped their record up to 18-2. As for Martin County, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 18-2.
