Basketball Recap: Lucas Hipp's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tok over Jimmy Huntington

Tok was the 65-53 winner over Jimmy Huntington when they last played one another on Thursday, but their luck changed this time around. The Tok Wolverines fell 66-59 to the Jimmy Huntington Hustlers on Friday. That's two games in a row now that the Wolverines have lost by exactly seven points.

Tok's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lucas Hipp, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. Hipp is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Marvin Captain, who posted 11 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Tok smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

It was another big night for Makais Starr, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 boards for Jimmy Huntington. Another player making a difference was Owen Roberts, who had 16 points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Tok's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Jimmy Huntington, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

Looking ahead, Tok will head out to face off against Ninilchik at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jimmy Huntington, they have already played their next game, a 63-59 victory against Non Varsity Tournament Opponent on the 7th.
