Lamar had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Salida Spartans. That's more bragging rights for the Thunder, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Lamar had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-18.

Addy Krug paced Lamar's offense, picking up 23 kills. Krug got some help from Abygail Gonzales and her 37 assists. Gonzales was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Defeat or not, Salida got some senior leadership from Cooper Fisher and Madisyn Wilcox. Fisher had 29 digs and three aces, while Wilcox had 30 assists and 15 digs. Wilcox is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Lamar's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Salida, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.

Lamar has already played their next match (against Ellicott), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Salida, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against La Veta on the 30th.
