Baseball Game Preview: Atholton Raiders vs. Long Reach Lightning

The Atholton Raiders will face off against the Long Reach Lightning at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Atholton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Atholton came out on top against River Hill on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Raiders walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Hawks. The game was the first time the Raiders have beaten the Hawks on their field since March 31, 2023.

JR Bott got the start for Atholton and what a start it was: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Bott has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jordan Dailey was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Weinig, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Meanwhile, Long Reach narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Atholton 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Lightning in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won seven in a row.

Long Reach's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Atholton, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
