Softball Recap: Richlands Now 12-1 over Last 13 Games

Richlands won against White Oak on Thursday with two runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Wildcats beat the West Carteret Patriots by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Patriots on Tuesday, they had to take a 4-1 loss.

Makenzie Goin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Richlands saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jailah Wilson, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Richlands is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for West Carteret, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-4.

As of now, neither Richlands nor the Patriots have any future games scheduled.
