Baseball Recap: Pershing County Victorious

Pershing County won the last time they faced Incline and things went their way on Saturday too. Pershing County had just enough and edged out Incline 13-12. With that victory, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Trenton Rhodes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Pershing County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 2-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Michael Reitz, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Pershing County is undefeated when Reitz posts two or more runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jacob Henderson, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Pershing County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Pershing County pushed their record up to 5-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Incline, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
