Softball Recap: West Sabine Takes a Loss

West Sabine suffered their closest loss since March 25th on Thursday. They fell just short of the Woden Eagles by a score of 4-2. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

London Weatherspoon was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Weatherspoon wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brenya Mohr, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

West Sabine has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-10-1 record this season. As for Woden, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-9 record.

While West Sabine had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
