Recap: Carbon Hill Bulldogs vs. Dora Bulldogs
After a string of five wins, the Carbon Hill Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 40-39 to Dora. While losing is never fun, Carbon Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Dora is ranked 123rd).
Dora found their leader in underclassman Bella Reese, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Reese is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Millicent Wilson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Carbon Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Dora, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carbon Hill will face off against Winfield at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dora on the road again on Tuesday and play against Fultondale at 12:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Fultondale is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
