It's playoff time, and Covenant Christian Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Cambridge Gryphons on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.

Covenant Christian Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 12-25, 25-13, 25-23, 25-23.

Covenant Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Allie Freedman, who had six digs and three aces. What's more, Freedman posted two assists, the most she's had over her last five matches.

They weren't the only good servers: Covenant Christian Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Despite the loss, Cambridge saw an underclassman step up: freshman Naomi Mcdonald had 12 digs and nine aces. With that strong performance, Mcdonald is now averaging an impressive 2.4 aces per game.

Covenant Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Cambridge, their defeat ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5.

As of now, neither Covenant Christian Academy nor the Gryphons have any future games scheduled.
