Basketball Game Preview: South Lake Eagles vs. Leesburg Yellow Jackets

South Lake hasn't had much luck against Leesburg recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The South Lake Eagles will look to defend their home court against the Leesburg Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. South Lake knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Leesburg likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, South Lake earned a 68-55 victory over Umatilla. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 664th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Leesburg unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 41-40 to Eustis. The game marked the Yellow Jackets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

South Lake is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Leesburg, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
