Basketball Recap: Christ the King Crusaders vs. Mooresville Blue Devils

Christ the King unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 50-42 to the Mooresville Blue Devils on Friday.

Despite the defeat, Christ the King saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Anna Haynes dropped a double-double with 22 points and 16 boards. Haynes has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lucy Gorman, who posted two points in addition to nine steals, six assists, and six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mooresville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Neveah McCorkle, who put up 15 points. Gia Lowe was another key player, putting up 12 points.
