Basketball Game Preview: Montgomery Central Timberwolves vs. Southern Lee Cavaliers

Montgomery Central is 0-5 against Southern Lee since November of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Montgomery Central Timberwolves will host the Southern Lee Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Montgomery Central is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 24th straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They were beaten by Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy 91-56.

Despite the loss, Montgomery Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Christopher Curtis posted 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Curtis has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Boston Britt, who earned eight points.

Meanwhile, Southern Lee put another one in the bag last Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Triton with points to spare, taking the game 63-44. Given the Cavaliers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Hawks are ranked 214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Montgomery Central's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Southern Lee, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-0.
