Basketball Recap: Steele Comes Up Short

Steele was the 80-69 winner over San Marcos when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Steele Knights fell 74-67 to the San Marcos Rattlers on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Knights came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Rattlers are ranked 315th).

San Marcos' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cash Good, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 21 points and seven assists. Good's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Hollmon, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds.

Steele is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 26-5. As for San Marcos, the win got them back to even at 17-17.

Coincidentally, Steele and San Marcos will both be playing Canyon the next time they take the court. Steele will host Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while San Marcos will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on February 11th.
