Recap: Evans Knights vs. Woodward Academy War Eagles
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Evans Knights can now relate to. They lost to Woodward Academy on the road by a decisive 31-14 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, Evans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Woodward Academy is ranked 43rd).
Woodward Academy was led to victory by Griffin Marshall and Ben Grice. Marshall threw for 106 yards and two touchdowns on only six passes, while Grice picked up 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Grice's longest reception was for an incredible 77 yards.
Evans has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Woodward Academy, they have yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 9-2 record.
Evans does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Woodward Academy will face off against Houston County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Houston County is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
