Recap: Union Farmers vs. Elizabeth Minutemen
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Union Farmers can now relate to. They were dealt a 69-19 loss at the hands of the Minutemen on Saturday. Union was red-hot offensively headed into the contest (they scored no less than 55 points in the three games prior) but Elizabeth's defense proved too tough.
Elizabeth's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Torres led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Torres has scored all season. Cameron Mcrae was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten assists.
Union dropped their record down to 7-15 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Elizabeth, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.
Union will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Middletown South at 4:15 p.m. Middletown South knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matches -- so hopefully Union likes a good challenge. As for Elizabeth, they will face off against Roselle Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
