Basketball Recap: Pendleton Heights Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Pendleton Heights came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31 points), and they left with even more momentum. They took down the New Palestine Dragons 62-45. Given the Arabians' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Dragons are ranked 69th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pendleton Heights got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Adah Hupfer out in front who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 20 rebounds. Hupfer is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 45 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Olivia Jones, who shot 60% from the field on her way to 17 points and five rebounds.

Pendleton Heights smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in ten consecutive matchups.

New Palestine's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sadey Hughbanks, who posted 18 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Crim, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Pendleton Heights' record now sits at 16-3. As for New Palestine, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-6.

Coming up, Pendleton Heights will host Lapel at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for New Palestine, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-45 loss against East Central on the 17th.
