Basketball Recap: Abilene Christian's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

It was a proper cat-fight when Abilene Christian challenged Grapevine Faith Christian on Friday. The Abilene Christian Panthers'2024 ended with a 71-57 defeat against the Grapevine Faith Christian Lions. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Abilene Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooks Armstrong, who went 5 of 8 en route to 14 points and four steals. Armstrong is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Morrison, who posted 17 points.

Landon Harlin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Grapevine Faith Christian, going 7 of 13 on his way to 23 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Harlin has posted since back in November. Another player making a difference was Brennen Byrd, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards.

Abilene Christian's loss dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Grapevine Faith Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
