TEACH Homeschool and Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2023, but likely not for long. The Beach Breakers will head out to take on the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with four losses in a row, TEACH Homeschool turned things around against Southampton Academy two weeks ago. They had just enough and edged out the Raiders 5-3.
Jordan Pyles made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).
Pyles wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zach Daniels, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
TEACH Homeschool hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association was able to grind out a solid win over Hampton Roads Academy on Saturday, taking the game 6-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.
Mike BARDER looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Tim SEITZ was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Collin FELTS, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
TEACH Homeschool pushed their record up to 4-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association, they now have a winning record of 7-6-1.
TEACH Homeschool might still be hurting after the 10-2 defeat they got from Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Beach Breakers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
