Basketball Recap: Clover Hill Takes a Loss

Clover Hill came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They took a blow against the L.C. Bird Skyhawks, falling 69-23. The Cavaliers haven't had much luck with the Skyhawks recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Malia Imanredjo was Clover Hill's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Olivia Kraft held things down on the boards with eight rebounds. Janiyah Pollard took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

L.C. Bird's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kamari Simon led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 19 points and nine boards. Simon is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Sasha Hodge was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to eight steals and six assists.

Clover Hill's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for L.C. Bird, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Clover Hill has already played their next matchup, a 43-37 loss against James River Midlothian on the 18th. As for L.C. Bird, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 65-50 win against Cosby on the 18th.
