Fredonia has gone a perfect 10-0 against Southwestern recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hillbillies will square off against the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. Fredonia will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Fredonia earned a 5-1 victory over Allegany-Limestone.
Danielle Palisin was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Delcamp, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI. Mikaylee Baliya also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three match, Southwestern brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. Everything went their way against Jamestown on Thursday as they made off with a 13-5 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Madi Burnett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, Southwestern let Kate Casel and Addison Shaw run wild. Casel went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Shaw went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Shaw a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Siri Dubois, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Southwestern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Fredonia pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.2 runs on average over those games. As for Southwestern, their record now sits at 4-9.
Fredonia beat Southwestern 3-0 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hillbillies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
