Football Game Preview: Upperman Bees vs. York Institute Dragons + How To Watch

Upperman has gone 6-1 against York Institute recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bees are taking a road trip to face off against the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. Upperman will be strutting in after a victory while York Institute will be coming in after a defeat.

Upperman is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 49-6 win over Livingston Academy. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-6.

Bronzdon Chaffin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 53 yards and three scores, while also throwing for 243 yards and one touchdown on perfect 12-for-12 passing. Those 243 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carmine Phillips, who rushed for 101 yards and a pair of TDs on only eight carries.

Meanwhile, York Institute was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 35-7 loss at the hands of DeKalb County.

Upperman is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.8 points over those games. As for York Institute, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.

Upperman didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against York Institute when the teams last played back in October of 2020, but they still walked away with a 26-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bees since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
