Softball Recap: San Marin Gets the Win

San Marin lost to Marin Catholic back in March, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Mustangs narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Wildcats 6-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Taylor Testa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Arianna Mendoza, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Leah Cronin was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

San Marin's record now sits at 14-6. As for Marin Catholic, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Marin will venture away from home to challenge Tamalpais at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Red Tailed Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Marin Catholic, they are taking a road trip to square off against Terra Linda at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
