Softball Recap: Clay Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Clay barely beat Menendez the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Clay was the clear victor by a 10-2 margin over Menendez on Friday. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by eight runs or more this season.

Sadie Russo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February.

On the hitting side, Kaelye Rouw was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Brooke Hamilton was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

The win was the third in a row for Clay, bringing their record up to 10-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Menendez, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clay will venture away from home to take on Mandarin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clay's pitchers better be ready for this one: Mandarin has averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Menendez, they will head out to challenge Tocoi Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tocoi Creek will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Menendez surely won't give up without a fight.
