Basketball Recap: Avah Mollohan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Braxton County over Doddridge County

Braxton County lost against Doddridge County back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Braxton County Eagles lost 58-34 to the Doddridge County Bulldogs. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Braxton County lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Avah Mollohan, who made all 5 shots she took to post 11 points. Laura Cain was another key player, putting up two points along with six boards and five steals.

Doddridge County found their leader in sophomore Aleigh Cheeseman, who went 5 for 10 en route to 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Dehaven, who posted seven points and five steals.

Braxton County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Doddridge County, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Braxton County has already played their next game, a 51-31 loss against Roane County on the 5th. As for Doddridge County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-30 defeat against Gilmer County on the 4th.
