Baseball Recap: Pomona Victorious

Pomona lost to Standley Lake back in April, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Panthers walked away with a 7-3 win over the Gators. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Tyler Dempsey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gage Douglas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those six stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Maddux Najera was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Pomona's record is now 8-14. As for Standley Lake, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-11.

Pomona didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-3 victory against Westminster on the 12th. As for Standley Lake, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 8-0 win against Littleton on the 12th.
