Softball Game Preview: Pavilion Golden Gophers vs. Avon Braves

Pavilion hasn't had much luck against Avon recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Golden Gophers are taking a road trip to square off against the Braves at 4:30 p.m. Pavilion has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Monday, Pavilion didn't have quite enough to beat Caledonia-Mumford and fell 12-11.

Meanwhile, Avon is still undefeated this season after their contest against Le Roy on Thursday, but Le Roy came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Braves beat the Oatkan Knights by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 2-1.

Jessie Crye spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Avon saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Schutz, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Avon's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Pavilion, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
