The Bishop Canevin Crusaders will head out on the road to square off against the DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bishop Canevin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Bishop Canevin is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Eden Christian Academy just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against Eden Christian Academy, falling 8-2.
Bishop Canevin saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kole Olszewski, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when DuBois Central Catholic took on Keystone on Thursday. The Cardinals blew past the Panthers 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Blake Pisarcik made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Brayden Fox was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Himes, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
DuBois Central Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Keystone only posted an OBP of .263.
The win made it two in a row for DuBois Central Catholic and bumps their season record up to 7-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Bishop Canevin, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 5-3.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bishop Canevin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .372. However, it's not like DuBois Central Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .361.
