Volleyball Recap: Halstead Dragons vs. Beloit Trojans
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Halstead had no problem doing just that on Friday. They won by a set and slipped past the Beloit Trojans 2-1. Winning may never get old, but the Dragons sure are getting used to it with their 11th in a row.
Halstead had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-19, 25-21.
Katharine Engel paced Halstead's offense, picking up 21 kills. Engel got some help from
Dalaina Schutte and her 38 assists. Engel was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Halstead has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 31 of their last 32 games, which provided a nice bump to their 41-2 record this season. As for Beloit, their defeat dropped their record down to 38-6.
Halstead has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Neodesha on the 2nd. Beloit does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
