Softball Game Preview: Mountain View Cougars vs. Crook County Cowboys

Mountain View is 0-8 against Crook County since March of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. Mountain View will face off against Crook County at 4:30 p.m. Mountain View knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Crook County likes a good challenge.

Mountain View's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They didn't even let Springfield on the board, marking Mountain View's second-straight 10-0 shutout. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by ten runs or more this season.

Brooklynn Hueners made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Hueners was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Keilah McCarthy was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Cadence Kennedy, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Crook County suffered their biggest defeat since April 24, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 12-5 to Hood River Valley. The loss was the Cowboys' first of the season.

Jolene Bartolotti was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Kya Mozingo also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Mountain View pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Crook County, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 3-1.

Mountain View might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Crook County when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Can Mountain View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
