Basketball Game Preview: Elk Grove Thundering Herd vs. Laguna Creek Cardinals

Two dominant guards in Noah Hargrave and Jaylan Virgil are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Elk Grove Thundering Herd will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Laguna Creek Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. Elk Grove is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

On Monday, Elk Grove ended up a good deal behind Sheldon and lost 61-42.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Laguna Creek took on Franklin on Monday. Laguna Creek lost 70-49 to Franklin. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 560th, while the Wildcats are ranked 57th).

Laguna Creek has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Elk Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.

Elk Grove came up short against Laguna Creek in their previous matchup on January 8th, falling 69-63. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Virgil, who went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and five boards.
