Softball Recap: Wekiva's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Wekiva came into Wednesday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Lake Buena Vista Vipers 17-16. With that win, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

Wekiva got a massive performance out of Camilla Delgado, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. With that strong performance, Delgado is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game. Another player making a difference was Janelle Rodriguez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Wekiva kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Wekiva's victory bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Lake Buena Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wekiva will take on West Orange at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lake Buena Vista, they will challenge Osceola at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Buena Vista's pitchers better be ready for this one: Osceola has averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
