Baseball Game Preview: Olmsted Falls Bulldogs vs. Avon Lake Shoremen

Olmsted Falls hasn't had much luck against Avon Lake recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bulldogs will head out to square off against the Shoremen at 4:45 p.m. Olmsted Falls has given up an average of 9.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Olmsted Falls came up short against Steele on Tuesday, falling 16-2. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Joey Goetz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Avon Lake had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Hilltoppers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Shoremen have posted since April 7th.

The team relied heavily on Alex Soloff, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adam McFadden, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Olmsted Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Avon Lake, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
