Baseball Game Preview: Tomales Braves vs. Laytonville Warriors

The Tomales Braves will take on the Laytonville Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tomales has three straight victories, Laytonville has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Tomales barely beat Roseland Collegiate Prep the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Braves put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 11-1 win on Friday.

Jorge Lopez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Tomales' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-7 when he doesn't).

Victory Christian Academy hit Laytonville with a seven-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors came up short against the Eagles, falling 13-3.

Tomales' victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Laytonville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Tomales took their win against Laytonville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 30-3 score. Will the Braves repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
