Baseball Recap: Sierra Pacific Drops Season-High Score on Sunnyside

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sierra Pacific). They blew past the Sunnyside Wildcats 18-2 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Sierra Pacific got a great performance from Xander Stone as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Stone has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Justin Simas was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Davian Contreras was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Sierra Pacific always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .675. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sierra Pacific is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sunnyside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Sierra Pacific didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-1 defeat against Clovis on the 16th. As for Sunnyside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 5-4 loss against Edison on the 16th.
