Preview: Central Christian Cougars vs. Caldwell Bluejays
The Central Christian Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the Caldwell Bluejays at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Central Christian is ranked 243rd, while Caldwell is ranked 218th).
Central Christian had to endure a six-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Macksville by a score of 72-64 on Tuesday. That 72-64 margin sets a new team best for Central Christian this season.
Meanwhile, Caldwell came up short against Conway Springs on Tuesday and fell 42-30. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Caldwell has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Caldwell got a solid performance out of Jackson Risley, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds. The game was Risley's fifth in a row with at least ten points.
Central Christian's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-4. As for Caldwell, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Central Christian beat Caldwell 51-38 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central Christian since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
