Basketball Recap: Oak Park Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from De'nyah Lloyd and Gabrielle Lee

Oak Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 31-18 hit to the loss column at the hands of the University Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 24-17 two weeks ago.

Oak Park's loss came despite strong showings from Gabrielle Lee and De'Nyah Lloyd. Lee posted 12 points and five steals, while Lloyd earned no points and five rebounds. Lee is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.

University's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aria Matthews, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Su'Hunye Green, who put up ten points.

Oak Park's defeat dropped their record down to 0-10. As for University, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Coming up, Oak Park will welcome Farmington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for University, they are taking a road trip to square off against Pontiac at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. University's defense has only allowed 28.8 points per game this season, so Pontiac's offense will have their work cut out for them.
